In The Flintstones (2025), Fred Flintstone (played by Adam Sandler) and his wife Wilma (Scarlett Johansson) face their biggest challenge yet when Bedrock is threatened by a mysterious new technology that could change the stone-age way of life forever. A wealthy entrepreneur arrives in town with plans to introduce a new energy source powered by volcanoes, which quickly divides the residents of Bedrock. While some are eager for modern conveniences, Fred, Wilma, and their friends Barney and Betty Rubble remain skeptical of the dangers this technology might pose.
Fred, working at the quarry, accidentally stumbles upon a hidden conspiracy involving the entrepreneur’s company. Together with Barney (Kevin James), Fred embarks on a wild adventure to stop this new technology from taking over Bedrock, restoring the town’s simple way of life. Along the way, there are plenty of slapstick moments, dinosaur encounters, and family humor that harks back to the original animated series.
Meanwhile, Wilma and Betty (Maya Rudolph) take matters into their own hands, organizing the town’s resistance, and showing that the Bedrock community is stronger when united. The film is packed with nostalgia, iconic moments, and fun nods to the original show, as well as modern humor and heartwarming lessons about friendship and family.
In the end, Fred and his friends save the day, but not without learning that sometimes a balance between progress and tradition is key to a better future.
