Plot Summary
Set in the 1960s, Secondhand Lions follows Walter Caldwell (Haley Joel Osment), a shy 14-year-old boy who is sent to live with his eccentric great-uncles, Hub (Robert Duvall) and Garth McCann (Michael Caine), on their remote Texas farm. Rumored to be former outlaws or war heroes, the uncles live a quiet but unusual life, occasionally shooting at traveling salesmen and guarding a mysterious hidden fortune.
At first, Walter struggles to connect with them, but as he listens to Garth’s incredible stories—of adventure, love, and war—he begins to see them in a new light. Along the way, the trio bonds over a secondhand lion, and Walter learns valuable lessons about courage, honor, and believing in something bigger than yourself.
