In Happy Gilmore 2 (2025), the story picks up years after the events of the original film. Happy, now a retired golf legend, has settled down with his wife, Virginia, and runs a charity golf program for underprivileged kids. However, his peaceful life takes an unexpected turn when a new, arrogant young golfer—rumored to be Shooter McGavin’s son—begins to rise in the professional golf world, threatening Happy’s legacy. The young golfer’s trash-talking style and showy tactics remind everyone of Shooter McGavin’s heyday, rekindling old rivalries.
Forced out of retirement, Happy decides to take on this new hotshot in a high-stakes charity tournament to protect his legacy and teach the young golfer a lesson in humility. Shooter McGavin himself makes a surprising return as a mentor to the young golfer, intensifying the competition. The film is filled with classic Happy Gilmore-style slapstick comedy, hilarious training montages, and memorable confrontations between Happy and Shooter.
Happy struggles to regain his swing, with plenty of comedic moments involving his aging body and frustration on the golf course. But with the help of his old coach Chubbs (who appears in a few flashbacks), Happy manages to bring back his famous unorthodox technique just in time for the final showdown.
As expected, the film culminates in an epic golf match, full of outrageous stunts and unexpected twists. In true Happy Gilmore fashion, the sequel offers laughs, heartwarming moments, and a nod to the original film’s iconic scenes.
